Delft’s Blue in Pottery and Paint with Guide Jan
Delft Blue Pottery is the blue&white Dutch version of Chinese porcelain. Delft-born painter Vermeer added minerals to his oils to create a shade of blue that made him famous.
One of the largest and most beautiful market squares in The Netherlands can be found in Delft. The Nieuwe Kerk is reserved for royal funerals and weddings, and accommodates the tomb of Willen van Oranje.
The townhall in Dutch Renaissance style was built by Hendrik de Keizer. Delft is an authentic Dutch city, with canals and facades dating from the 17th century.
EXCURSION Delft’s Blue in Pottery and Paint
Your guide will illustrate and explain the history of Delft during a walk through the city. You will see demonstrations of the firing and decorating of Delft Blue Pottery in a ceramics workshop, and you will discover Vermeer’s work and his wonderful shades of blue in the Vermeer Center.
