Delft Blue Ware with Guide Jan
What is Delft Blue ware?
Delfts Blue is a copy of Chinese porcelain. The latter was brought back to the Netherlands by the ships of the VOC United East India Company in the 17th century. Many burgers (citizens) found waiting for a present for 3 years too long. Hence the copying started in the town of Delft. Not as porcelain but earthenware. Earthenware is baked under less heat and that was necessary due to the type of clay that was used.
