The Hague City Tour

This can be a walking tour, a bike tour, or a bus tour. All with guide Jan

The Hague is called the city of Justice and Peace. What does that mean?

The theme refers to the International Court of Justice, the Yugoslavia Tribunal, the OPCEW, the International Crime Court and many other organisations. The Hague is the 3rd city within the United Nations after New York and Geneva. The Hague is proud of this UN status. With a the Hague City tour with guide Jan you will see and hear all of it.

The government does not reside in the Capital

Remarkable is that the Dutch government does not reside in the capital, but in The Hague at the Binnenhof and the Ridderzaal. Napoleon when occupying the Netherlands dicided that Amsterdam was the capital and after the independance it stayed that way. No shortage of limousines, chariots, ministers on bicycle, TV reporters and politicians. All Embassies can also be found in The Hague, this gives The Hague the feel of importance a government city should have.

Tourist Guide Holland offers walks and bike tours with themes specific for the Hague.

Jugendstil,Art Nouveau

Royal,

History,

Hofjes,

Justice and Peace.

Both walks and bike tours are in our offer.

To visit a museum is no problem either. Which important museums The Hague harbour? That are:

www.hetgemeentemuseum.nl with Mondriaan,

www.hetmauritshuis.nl with the Vermeers, and Rembrandt

www.hetpanoramavanmesdag.nl  a 120 meters long painting,

www.madurodam.nl shows Dutch buildings on a scale of 1 on 20.

And there are many more museums in The Hague such as Escher in the Palace, Bredius, Sculptures at sea, Meermanno Westeranium, National Archive etc.

Are the sea, the beach and the coast also part of The Hague?

Yes, Scheveningen is part of the city of The Hague and that’s where the beach is and of course the sea. Bicycling or walking along the sea. Seafood, eating herring or plaice,  getting sand between your toes, it’s possible in The Hague and Scheveningen.
